Students can participate in scientific, technical, artistic and other scholarly projects with faculty. Undergraduates are encouraged to present their findings at Northeastern's annual Scholarship and Technology Expo, as well as at external research conferences and in scholarly journals.
Student Research Activities
Engineering Students Devising More Usable Cell PhoneAn engineering honors senior design team is working on the development of a more usable cell phone - a project that won the Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award at NU's 2005 Research and Technology Expo. The students are Caitlyn Bosecker, Alex Hussain and Mike Jenkins. Their project advisors are Assistant Academic Specialist Beverly Jaeger and Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Grant Warner. They are interviewing volunteers and taking an online poll to gather opinions on the new design criteria. The group is also looking for old or broken cell phones and chargers to use for parts and research.
